PURPLELEC TB031 — Thunderbolt/USB4 U.2 SSD Enclosure for High-Speed External Storage
The PURPLELEC TB031 is a Thunderbolt/USB4 U.2 SSD enclosure designed for users who need fast, stable and externally powered U.2 storage access. It connects to a host computer through a Type-C Thunderbolt/USB4 interface and provides a SFF-8639 U.2 socket for U.2 SSDs or U.2 to NVMe adapter boards.
Built with an aluminum alloy housing, DC external power input and active fan cooling, TB031 is suitable for workstation storage expansion, SSD testing, high-speed data transfer, media production, engineering labs and B2B storage integration projects.
40Gbps Thunderbolt/USB4 Host Connection
TB031 uses a Type-C Thunderbolt/USB4 host port with a maximum host-side transfer rate of 40Gbps. It is backward compatible with USB 3.2 Gen2x2 up to 20Gbps, USB 3.2 Gen2 up to 10Gbps and USB 3.1 up to 5Gbps.
Actual performance may vary depending on the host computer, SSD, cable, operating system and protocol supported by the Type-C port.
U.2 Interface with PCIe Gen3 x4 Transmission
The enclosure is equipped with a SFF-8639 U.2 female socket and supports PCIe Gen3 x4 data transmission. The U.2 interface supports a maximum transfer rate of 32Gbps, making it suitable for high-performance U.2 SSDs and U.2 to NVMe adapter solutions.
This design is useful for users who need to read, test or deploy U.2 SSDs outside a desktop chassis or server environment.
External DC Power for Stable SSD Operation
TB031 includes a DC power input and supports a DC 12V/3A power adapter. Compared with bus-powered storage accessories, an externally powered design helps provide more stable power for U.2 SSD operation, especially during large file transfers or long working sessions.
A physical power switch allows users to control power more safely when installing, removing or replacing drives.
Active Cooling + Aluminum Alloy Housing
U.2 SSDs can generate heat under sustained workload. TB031 uses an aluminum alloy body with a sandblasted oxidized finish and a built-in active cooling fan to improve airflow and heat dissipation.
The fan runs when the product is powered on and stops when power is turned off. This helps support stable operation during continuous data transfer and reduces the risk of performance drops caused by excessive heat.
